Food Celebrations Galore!
The sharp-eyed among you may have noticed a significant change on Scottish Food Guide this week. Arguably a little overdue - but better late than never – in recognition of the support and loyalty of Scottish Food Guide Members I have reconfigured the settings to give them additional precedence over listees on the website. It is right and proper that they should be the most visible. As Scottish Food Guide enters its 10th year, as ever, businesses are listed purely on merit, free of charge with no public funding and Full Membership is then an option to increase marketing opportunities.
Next week is a busy one food wise with Chinese New Year, Farmhouse Breakfast Week and Burns Suppers all converging!! Many schools and cafes are highlighting their breakfasts as part of this national campaign. You will have heard the old adage ‘ breakfast like a king; lunch like a prince and dine like a pauper.’ Well next week is certainly the one to savour soda breads and oatcakes, farmhouse cheeses and Ayrshire bacon….not to forget free range eggs – check out the Farm Shops and Cheese Trail sections of Scottish Food Guide for your nearest suppliers or indeed your high street butcher.
For Burns Night, Findlays haggis is a winner and look out for potatoes that mash well such as Bartlett’s Roosters – and remember if you are shopping for neeps (turnips) south of the border you need to ask for Swedes!!!
